With deep reverence for Sri Vasavi Devi, who embodied the principles of Dharmam (Righteousness), Seelam (Morality), and Ahimsa (Non-Violence), I am honored and grateful to step into the role of leading the Chicago Vasavi Association (CVA) in 2026, the 35th year since its inception.
It is with this divine wisdom in mind that I express my sincere gratitude for this opportunity. I also extend my heartfelt congratulations to all the leaders who will play pivotal roles in guiding CVA forward with purpose and unity, and for volunteering their time and effort in this endeavor.
Across generations and continents, the Vasavi community has remained steadfast in upholding and sharing the timeless teachings of Vasavi Devi. As the Chicagoland community, we continue to embody these values through our dedication to service, spirituality, and collective growth.
As devotees, we remain humbly grounded not only in faith and tradition, but also in compassion, collaboration, and a shared responsibility to uplift others. Through CVA, we are bringing members who hail from Andhra, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Odisha and Tamil Nadu together in our devotion to Vasavi Devi.
Temples dedicated to Vasavi Devi serve as powerful centers of faith, service, and community life. These temples are not only places of worship but also hubs for impactful initiatives such as annadanam (food donation), educational support, and community welfare programs.
Inspired by this model, we aim to further strengthen our efforts here in the United States by expanding our service initiatives and deepening our connection with the broader community.
CVA was established following the Prana Prathista of Vasavi Devi at the Venkateswara Temple in Aurora, Illinois. Since then, the devotees who helped establish both the temple and CVA have worked tirelessly to recreate a strong sense of belonging within the community.
They also established the tradition of gathering on the third Sunday of each month to offer prayers collectively—strengthening the bonds that unite us.
As I take on the responsibility of leading CVA in 2026, my vision is centered on three key priorities:
We will expand our service projects, including food drives, volunteer initiatives, and partnerships with local organizations, ensuring that we actively give back to the communities around us.
We will empower our youth to lead, serve, and stay connected to their cultural and spiritual roots through mentorship programs, youth-led events, and leadership opportunities.
We will strengthen community bonds by bringing families together through cultural events, spiritual gatherings, and collaborative programs that foster a true sense of belonging.
We will continue nurturing the spiritual growth of our community through satsangs, retreats, and guidance from esteemed gurus, building upon the meaningful foundation laid in previous years.
In addition, we will support professional growth, entrepreneurship, and knowledge-sharing initiatives to empower our members in all aspects of life.
I thank Goddess Vasavi Devi for blessing me with the opportunity to serve as President of CVA in 2026. I also extend my sincere gratitude to our senior families, trustees, and each and every member of the community for your continued support.
Together, let us build a stronger community, deepen our devotion, and serve with compassion and purpose—guided by the timeless teachings of Vasavi Devi.
I look forward to working alongside all of you to create a more connected, service-driven, and vibrant community in the year ahead.
