Chicagoland Vasavi Association (CVA)

About Us

Welcome to

Chicagoland Vasavi Association (CVA)

Vasavi association in Chicago was the first Vysya organization formed within USA. A number of Vasavi families worked extremely hard to bring people together to form the organization. They worked with the Sri Venkateswara temple (Balaji temple) in Aurora, IL to start regular Vasavi Matha pooja. In 1991, Ammavari Pratishtapana happened in our Balaji temple with great religious fervor. Since then, our Vasavites with the support of Balaji temple, have conducted Vasavi matha abhishekam every third Sunday. In addition, we also celebrate Vasavi Jayanthi and Vasavi Athmarpana day each year.

With time, our Vasavi associations evolved and took the current form of Chicagoland Vasavi Association (CVA) in 2007 as you see today. Our motto is “Serve with Devotion”.

Our Mission

Build a strong, collaborative, friendly, multi-generational community of Vasavi matha followers in Chicagoland area who form our extended family away from home.

CVA focusses on services related to and aligned with principles of Vasavi Matha. CVA also focusses on networking, service and social elements to build better extended family connection with followers of Vasavi matha.

President's Message

Jai Vasavi Matha

Sri Vasavi Matha, an incarnation of Goddess Parvathi, descended to earth to impart the noble principles of Dharmam (Right Conduct), Sheelam (Right Character), and Ahimsa (Non-Violence) to humanity through her life. It is with this divine wisdom in mind that I express my gratitude for the opportunity to lead the CVA (Chicago Vasavi Association) this year. I also extend my heartfelt congratulations to all the leaders who will play pivotal roles in taking CVA to new heights.

The Vasavi community, both in India and abroad, is deeply committed to preserving the legacy of Vasavi Matha’s teachings and spreading her principles. The CVA community is passionate about serving society, following the timeless values passed down by our beloved Matha. As devotees, we are proud to be part of one of the most organized and committed communities, grounded in spirituality, charity, and business acumen.

In India, across Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu, temples dedicated to Vasavi Matha play an integral role in the spiritual lives of devotees. These temples are not only places of worship but also centers of community and service—organizing festivals, food donations through community kitchens, and offering financial assistance and resources to support the growth and success of the business community. Vasavi devotees are traditionally known for their charitable, spiritual, and respectful nature, always guided by the principles of righteousness, right character, and nonviolence.

When the first-generation Vasavi devotees arrived in the United States, they faced the challenge of establishing a sense of community that reflected the strong bonds they had experienced in India. In 1991, the pioneers from the Chicagoland area, along with devotees from Indiana and Wisconsin, came together to form an organization. They took a pivotal step by installing the Vasavi Deity at the Balaji Temple in Aurora, Illinois. Since then, our community has gathered every third Sunday to offer prayers and strengthen the bonds that unite us.

As I take on the responsibility of leading the Chicagoland Vasavi Association in 2025, my foremost goal is to bring our community together and serve it to the best of my abilities.

Our focus will also be on nurturing the spiritual growth of our community, offering regular satsangs, retreats, and guidance from esteemed gurus, continuing the valuable practices initiated by Manjunath Kunigal Garu in 2024.These spiritual activities will provide a deeper connection to Vasavi Ammavaru’s teachings, fostering inner peace, wisdom, and unity among us all. Additionally, we will build upon the momentum of business and entrepreneurship sessions started by 2023 president, Ramesh Nayakanti garu, ensuring that our community has ongoing opportunities for valuable learning and growth.

I am truly humbled and honored to serve as president 2025. Together, let us continue to foster unity, strengthen our devotion, and serve the community with the wisdom and compassion of Vasavi Matha. I look forward to working with all of you in the year ahead, ensuring our community continues to grow in faith and purpose.
